Is he reckless for attempting this, and if so is that more an indication of a lack of courage on your part than it is recklessness on his? And if he’s reckless is it a result of overestimating his own abilities, or underestimating the risks associated with performing the stunt?

Personally, and in view of his reaction at the end of the video, I think he was very aware of the risks as well as his own limitations.
